What Are a VP of Supply Chain’s Resolutions for 2025?
As the new year approaches, it’s a time to reflect on the challenges and successes of the past 12 months, and more importantly, to think about how we can do better in the year ahead. As the VP of Supply Chain, it’s my responsibility to not only steer the ship but to lay out the vision for where we want to go. And in 2025, that vision is one of transformation.
The manufacturing landscape has never been more complex. Supply chains are global, production needs are unpredictable, and we’re constantly asked to do more with less. In this environment, staying ahead of the curve is not just an aspiration; it’s a necessity.
That’s why, as I look toward the future, I’m setting these New Year’s Resolutions for the company. They’re not just business goals – they’re the foundation of how we can create a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable operation.
Resolution 1: Achieve Unmatched Production Flexibility
When I think about our current production scheduling, I picture a team constantly firefighting, trying to fix issues as they arise. Our planners are often bogged down in manually tracking resources, adjusting timelines, and handling last-minute changes. It’s stressful, inefficient, and leads to avoidable delays.
In 2025, I want that to change. My vision for our production scheduling is one where everything flows seamlessly – where we can adapt quickly to changes, anticipate problems before they become disruptions, and make data-driven decisions on the fly.
Imagine a world where our scheduling isn't reactive, but proactive. Where production is optimized, resources are maximized, and downtime is minimized. This isn’t just wishful thinking – it’s a vision I’m determined to bring to life.
Resolution 2: Drive Sustainability Without Compromising Efficiency
The pressure is growing to do more with less – less waste, less energy, and fewer raw materials – all while maintaining high production standards. In 2025, our company needs to find a way to balance sustainability with productivity. We can no longer afford to see these as separate goals.
I envision a production system that runs lean, but not just in terms of inventory. I want our processes to be smarter, more energy-efficient, and less wasteful. Through better planning, we’ll be able to achieve sustainability goals while also increasing throughput and reducing overhead costs.
This vision board I have for our production line reflects a cleaner, greener future where every unit produced is more efficient and more responsible.
Resolution 3: Empower Our Teams with the Right Tools
I’ve seen firsthand how stress and burnout can affect teams when they’re forced to work with outdated tools, inefficient processes, and poor visibility. Our people deserve better.
In 2025, I’m committed to equipping our team with smarter, more intuitive tools that make their jobs easier, not harder. A more efficient, automated production scheduling system means fewer manual adjustments and less time spent on firefighting. It’s about setting up our team for success, allowing them to make faster, more informed decisions that move us closer to our goals.
Resolution 4: Increase Operational Resilience
No one likes to talk about disruptions, but they’re an inevitable part of the game. Whether it’s raw material shortages, labor issues, or logistics bottlenecks, the ability to pivot and adjust quickly is what sets the best companies apart.
I resolve to create a more resilient supply chain by implementing smarter scheduling practices. This year, I want our team to be able to predict challenges before they arise, so we can take action in advance. Whether it’s adjusting to a last-minute order or shifting resources to cover a gap, our production system will be ready to adapt.
Resolution 5: Maximize Efficiency with Automation
There’s no denying it: the manual processes that have been part of the production schedule for years are holding us back. It’s time to embrace automation to free up our teams from repetitive tasks and allow them to focus on high-value activities.
In 2025, I see a production system where tasks like data entry, schedule adjustments, and resource tracking are automated. This will not only improve accuracy but also speed up decision-making, helping us deliver on time, every time.

A Vision for the Future
So, as I look at my vision board for the future of our operations, I see a company that’s agile, sustainable, and incredibly efficient. A company where teams are empowered with the right tools, where every production decision is informed by data, and where we’re able to navigate disruptions with ease.
This is the future I want to build. And while it may seem ambitious, with the right technology and the right mindset, it’s more than achievable
